For the majority of patients here at True Harmony, ultrasounds are ordered at approximately 12 weeks, 20 weeks and 36 weeks. During these scans, 3D/4D images may be obtained if medically nescessary. However, obtaining those picture-perfect 3D images can sometimes be difficult during those particular gestational ages, and for various reasons.

For eager parents anxious to get exceptional 3D images of their growing little one, it is recommended that a fun ultrasound scan be done between 26-30 weeks for best results. During this particular time, your baby is growing and gaining weight! Their faces start to become chubbier, yet they still (usuallyl) have room to move around. After 30-31 weeks, baby might start to become smushed. The face is more likely to be pressed up against the uterus or placenta, which only results in blurry 3D images.
