Ovarian dermoid cysts, or teratomas, are usually benign (non-cancerous) and are most commonly found on the ovaries of women who are typically of childbearing ages.
The interesting thing about these cysts is that they can be made up of multiple types of tissue, ranging from neural and thyroid tissue, to hair and teeth! Interesting, right?
The size of these dermoids can vary greatly, but they are usually slow growing, usually at an average rate of 1.8 mm per year.
For a patient, finding out you have an ovarian dermoid cyst can be quite scary. We at the Center for True Harmony are here to answer your questions!
