When will I get an ultrasound and see my BABY?

You have a positive pregnancy test and you have already had a doctors appointment to confirm you're pregnant. Now, you're ready for a glimpse of a baby!

In order for baby to be seen, your body goes through multiple changes and seeing baby on Ultrasound is dependent on these few things! Take a peek:

• Ovulation
• Implantation
• Positive Pregnancy Test
• Doctors Visit
• Blood Work

Once these steps and possibly a few more have been completed, your provider will then have you schedule your initial clinical ultrasound. You may be excited to see baby, and we get it! However, it is imperitave provider has obtained the above listed information! That way we can see baby on ultrasound. At 4 and a half weeks on Ultrasound, we can only see a gestational sac. Therefore waiting for the clinical Ultrasound is recommended! If you're anxious to see baby and think you just cannot wait for initial clinical ultrasound - we do have options here at True Harmony!

In addition, we have FUN Ultrasounds! They can be done at any time during pregnancy. However if you decide on a FUN Ultrasound, prior to the clinical Ultrasound, know that a fetus cannot (typically) be detected by Ultrasound until about 6 to 7 weeks. While the heartbeat does not start to beat until about 5 wks and 5 days, you may not get a visual on heartbeat. To avoid stress, it's important to know if you do schedule an early FUN Ultrasound prior to initial Ultrasound you may or may not see a heart beat.

Something to consider: Are your periods regular? Or are they every other month/couple of months? Believe it or not, this can effect when we see baby on Ultrasound and could possibly be too early for detection prior to initial Ultrasound.
